As part of the Cobb County Bar Association’s Law Day celebration, Judge Leonard was presented with the Thomas J. Charron Public Service Award by Justice Nels Petersen.
“He’s been a vital part of the Chief Justice’s COVID Task Force. He’s been a critical sounding board for our statewide decisions. He’s been an innovator at how to do court remotely, and after inventing best practices, he has trained judges across the state on them. He’s wrestled long into the night—night after night—with how to keep people safe while still doing what we need to do. It’s been a task that has required him, over and over again, to identify the least bad option while knowing that there’s so much we don’t know. His work over the last year and a half may be the most important thing a Cobb County judge has done in my lifetime.”
